Band Happenings week of 05/20/24

Hello GP Band Families!

As we get closer to the end of May,  we have a few more events and kudos before saying goodbye to our Seniors and looking ahead to the 2024-25 school year. Please read carefully, there is a lot of good information below.

First, a big Congratulations to our Silverwood Travel Ensemble (79 GP Band Students representing each area of the GP Band Program). These students traveled to Coeur d’Alene, ID this weekend to participate in the Music in the Parks festival at Coeur d’Alene High School Saturday morning winning 1st place High School Band and Overall Best High School Band!! They celebrated their achievements by spending the afternoon at Silverwood Theme Park before ending the day with a pizza feast.

A big thank you to our parent volunteers/chaperones who participated in this weekend adventure. Special thanks to Liezel Yeeles who recorded the performance and shared it with us. Pirates of the Caribbean and Locomotive

Band Banquet—Please join us for a night of celebration and recognition …and, of course, dessert.

>>Send us your band photos! This has been a great year for the GP Band Program! We would like share the accomplishments and the fun at the Band Banquet with a slide show. Please send your photos with “Band Pics” in the subject line to gphsbandboosters@gmail.com. Deadline for submission is May 23rd.

>>Senior Spotlight! Seniors don’t forget to fill our your “Exit Interview” (renamed “Senior Spotlight”) for Mr. Morris. CLICK HERE to access the online form. Thank you to those who have already completed your submission.  Deadline for submission is May 23rd.

>>Seniors! Do you have a Grizzly Band shirt or concert dress that is in good condition? Would you consider donating them for use by future band members? We would love to have surplus items to pass on to families in need next year. Please bring any items to donate to the Band Banquet on May 28th and look for the basket labeled “Donations”.

Newport Drumline Festival—This event will be in the evening at Newport High School in Bellevue. Additional details, including call time and itinerary coming soon.

 

Grizzly Band 2024-25 Register NOW* before June 20th!!
Grizzly Band registration is required for all new and returning Band Students interested in participating in the GPHS marching band known as Grizzly Band. This registration includes registration for Grizzly Band Camp August 5—9th  8am-4pm each day with a preview performance on Friday, August 9th. The Grizzly Band Registration Fee $190* is for Grizzly Band membership, NOT a Band Camp fee. This fee supports GPHS Band programs including instructors, clinicians, music, uniforms, band camp and other events. The All payments to GPHS Band Boosters and payments made on behalf of GPHS band students by GPHS Band Boosters are non-refundable. Please note that the Grizzly Band registration form has been updated for 2024-25 and includes special discounts for siblings, Grizzly Band Ts, and Drumline Camp attendance. (*Registration fee is $210 after June 20th)

     
Drumline Camp 2024 July 29th-August 2nd Register NOW! Recommended for all new and returning Percussion Ensemble students interested in participating Grizzly Band’s Drumline, but not required. This year, students who attend Drumline Camp and will receive $15 off their Grizzly Band registration by using the coupon code DRUMLINE.
